Change is hard. Don't go it alone.
If you’re facing change - big or small - you’re in the right place. Change can be hard, overwhelming and lonely. But it doesn't have to be.
Retirement is one of the most underestimated life transitions. Almost 1 in 2 recent retirees say the shift was harder than expected, with many reporting disconnection, boredom, and uncertainty. After years of routine and identity tied to work, the blank slate of retirement can feel less like freedom – and more like free fall.
We believe retirement, and all of life’s transitions, are powerful opportunities for growth. Don’t face them alone.
Retirement: your boldest chapter yet?
Retirement is the first transition we're focusing on at The Main Act. Because we believe the outdated definition- one of slowing down and stepping back - doesn’t fit the vibrant, multi-faceted lives of today’s women. It's also deeply personal to us - inspired by Kim’s own journey.
Without planning, retirement can feel disorienting and disconnected – a time when purpose fades, social circles shrink, and wellbeing can suffer. Nearly 1 in 3 retirees say they often feel lonely or isolated, and depression rates increase by up to 20% in the first year – especially for women without a strong sense of purpose or connection.
Our signature program, Retirement by Design, helps you ensure your retirement is a bold new chapter, filled with purpose, passion, and possibility. It blends evidence-based life design principles from Stanford University, coaching methodologies, and leading research to help women confidently shape their next and best chapters.
It's for women who are considering, approaching and in retirement. Starting in May 2025, over eight weeks you’ll gain tools, guidance, and community to design a retirement that’s full of joy and meaning.

This is our Main Act
The Main Act is founded by powerhouse mother-daughter duo Kim and Prue Watty.
Dr Kim Watty is an Emeritus Professor and has spent her career in academia. She has a love of education and research. She has a long history of mentoring women and currently serves on boards for leading education providers.
Prue is an entrepreneur and ICF-accredited life coach. She built a thriving events agency (during covid!) and has run events all over the world. While living in New York she led a flash mob at Washington Square Park.
Kim and Prue know that women do better together.
Through their personal and professional development, they have discovered tools and practices to support and enable living a better life. They are excited to share and further develop these methods with The Main Act community.

At The Main Act we are passionate about uplifting women. We donate 8% of our profits to organisations which empower women to live their best lives.
The Main Act is a safe space where I was able to explore, learn and craft a life that is unique to me. I had some trepidation about what life after full-time employment might look like. Now I can’t wait to live that life with intention and joy. This program helped me to design and refine my next and possibly best chapter.”
